Early Days

For some 19 years now the Partnership Churches have enjoyed a close link with St Chad’s, Taung, in the Kimberley Kuruman Diocese, in the Church of the Province of Southern Africa. At this end the link is administered by a group drawn from each of our four congregations.

Visits between St Chad’s and ourselves, in both directions, have taken place on a number of occasions. In an early visit we welcomed two leading members of St Chad’s, Ronnie and Lebohang, shown in the picture being introduced by Sue Smith of St Michael’s to David Conner, the Dean of Windsor and previously a curate at St Michael’s.

During the autumn of 2005 four members of churches in our Partnership visited Taung and a report of their visit may be found at Taung Visit.

The next visit to Taung was made by Sue Smith, Anne Shaw and Margaret Broadbent in the autumn of 2007. For a report on this visit see the menu link Taung Visit 2007.

This was followed in 2011 by a visit to us of seven members from St Chad’s. This was a great occasion and a full report is given at the menu link Taung Visit 2011.

Most recently, in 2015, Sue has made a return visit to St Chad’s taking with her photographs of our four congregations and receiving in return a photograph of the St Chad’s congregation. She brought back a report from the church and chapelries in the Taung area. This report may be seen at he menu link Taung Visit 2015.
